With the help of Looklet.com, I am able to create outfits using this interactive website and the growing database of apparel.

I am always inspired by a myriad of things, including music, street fashion, sights, tastes and subcultures of our society, giving me a large plethora of ideas to choose from when I style. I don't like to define a certain style when it comes to my work, because I believe I can style for both elegance and edge. However, if there is one thread of similarity, is that I am able to mix and match items to create a look with a twist. This section of my portfolio will be enlarged with the looks I create on Looklet.com

Name: "Peking Peaks" Dress and "So It Said" sleeveless cropped bolero.
Materials -
Dress: Slate grey jersey knit, black waxed shantung, black cotton polyester blend, black striped organza, black cotton twill, black fringed twill. Lined in pewter blue cotton knit.
Sleeveless cropped bolero: Black cotton twill, black waxed shantung, black cotton polyester blend, black striped organza, black fringed twill. Lined in python skin printed 100% polyester.

Inspired by topographical maps, I used different fabrics to translate my signature style of pairing textures together in an unexpected way. I wanted to dress to be versatile and wearable, but not boring. It's timeless, flattering, and surprisingly comfortable because of the high quality knits used.

Submitted for Japan's 32nd HEP 5 Competition.

Description:

Name: "Starguide" Dress.
Materials used: Cherry Red duchess satin, maroon shantung, burgundy chiffon. Black polyester lining.

As part of the Audi Fashion Festival Singapore 2009, the Singapore Heart Foundation launches the annual "Little Red Dress" project in a charity auction. Click here for more information on the project.

blackmarket (click here for website) approached me to create a dress under the blackmarket brand. With my collaborator Clarion, we created a dress for the auctions.

The inspiration was a woman who is strong in her character. She is an adventurer, an explorer and a leader. She listens to her heart and is not afraid to take the beaten road. Courageous, bold and determined, she is a star, a leader, a woman.

Using structure versus draped braids and a full bubble skirt, we focused on a punchy and fun skirt that aptly fits into the blackmarket image, yet maintained frivolity and fun in the design.

Description:

Name: Hula Palooza skirt.
Materials used: Ver. 1 - Red/ white striped viscose & Navy/ white striped cotton blend
Ver. 2 - Navy cotton knit with multi coloured maracas & Navy/ white striped cotton blend
Ver. 3 - Black cotton with Japanese print & Cream/ black crushed organza

The skirt was part of a merchandise mix for a group project that recreated a sales experience. I contributed a batch of skirts in 3 variations for the project. It's very flattering and fits all sizes with it's elastic waistband. It can also be worn as a tube top with a belt over the waist. Breezy, comfortable and versatile.

Description:

Name: Tulle headpiece with veil and crystals.
Materials used: Black tulle, black hairband, black and deep brown crystals.

A headpiece I created for a photoshoot I was styling for. Inspired by the glamourous 30s, I created a voluminous sculpture of tulle that drapes down as a two-ply veil. Because of the tulle, it creates a contrast in shades over the face. I added some crystals to the headgear because I wanted to keep it a bit more modern. Hence the sporadic crystals which are still feminine, but in a slightly conceptual way as compared to the typical method of overpiling the crystals. Timeless, elegant and versatile!

Description:

Name: "Love, Monet", an A/W 2009 mini collection from AARONKOK.
Medium: Adobe Photoshop

This is the major assignment from our course in learning about the Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop series. We were required to do a collection of 3 outfits, incorporating as much skills as possible which we have learnt in our past 15 days.

The brief included making 1 pattern, designing and illustrating 3 outfits (the designs of each outfit was not as important as compared to the technical know-how behind the illustrations) and presenting technical flat drawings. Moodboard was not required.

The collection was inspired by the floral impressionist artwork of Claude Monet. I used very simple and sophisticated silhouettes complimented with an elegant palette of colours to achieve this.

Description:

Name: "Explorers & Vagabonds" Blouse
Materials used: Black stretch cotton twill, Dark grey stretch cotton twill.

I tried to tackle a fashion taboo: sportswear. Hence, I created this blouse. Experimenting with the silhouette and panelling, I added peplum sides and different coloured princess panels to the blouse.

Description:

Name: "untitled#1" dress
Materials used: Black crushed silk satin, nude silk faille.

For my homework, I was required to make an A-line dress with the following: Collarless & sleeveless, U/ V neckline with facing, Biased tape/ binded armholes, shoulder & bust darts, zipper element and finished hems. Hence I created a simple dress made from silk faille and the wrong side of some crinkled satin. I made the top part a shade of nude for a visual trickery, making the wearer look like she's only wearing a corsetted dress. I eventually used the wrong side of the satin for it's muted sheen, and gave the dress two side seam pockets. The dress has a slight pod like silhouette
